About the event
A staple at Freedom Festival, Chess Fest is back for you to challenge your family and friends or other members of the public.
Festival-goers of all ages are invited to sit down at a table and begin a game, or play on their giant chess board. There will also be experienced chess players on hand if you're in need of some help to beat your opponent!
Who are the artists? The Hull & East Riding Chess Association has run summer-long Play Chess Festivals since 2021 and have appeared at Freedom Festival each year too. They have promoted chess in public-facing events in local shopping centres, parks, squares, cafés, bars, libraries and quaysides.
